Busy time at Equiscene
30-04-2010

Busy times over the past few months here. With the show season over, we have been busy breaking and educating our youngstock.

We have been working on our first home bred pony Drumeden Encore (Dainhill Elegance x Dainhill Octave). Evan is already very tall and will be just under 14.2hh at maturity. He is breaking in extremely well and we cannot believe how quiet this pony is! He takes everything in his stride and we are very excited to have a show hunter for the coming season!

Damon (Langtree Double Puzzle) is also getting broken in - yes we are very busy! This pony has an incredible attitude and absolutely nothing has fazed him at this stage. He is a very refined pony with beautiful movement. He is the same height as our very successful and much loved Robbie, so he has some big shoes to fill if he is going to replace him!!

Robbie - the most loved pony in the world as been on official duties. We haved weaned our beautiful foal Charlotte (Drumeden Circus) and Robbie is performing the role of Uncle. I have never seen a pony take on a job so seriously! He looks after Charlotte like she is his own foal and she loves him so much! Charlotte quite happily follows Robbie around like a little dog and she is already as quiet as him, with her able to be caught, patted, handled anywhere in the paddock. Robbie, you are worth your weight in gold, hence why I wont sell you even though many want you!!!

We have entered three ponies for Adelaide – so we are about to be incredibly busy once again. Anna, Harry and Tiara (L. Upbeat) will all be making the trip over and we cant wait as Adelaide is our favourite Royal!!

Barastoc HOTY
30-04-2010
What an amazing show Barastoc is. We thank all the hard workers who help make this show the beautiful event that it is.

We took our two newcomers down to Barastoc and we were not disappointed with their results. Anna (W. Regal Lady) proved she is a star in the making by winning her newcomer Galloway led class and the owner handler led galloway! Anna then went onto the be in the Top 10 for the Newcomer Galloway class, which was a little scarey with teh incredible wind that blew through WPNEC. Anna did a great job and made me very proud.  Thank you to my incredible strappers Debra and Dale for all your hard work.

Harry (K. Honours) also worked very well to get into the Top 10 Newcomer Large Pony class. This was a very competitive class so we were absolutely thrilled with Harry's performances.

We can now happily say our show season is over and all horses, rider and strappers can have a well deserved break!!

Harry

VASA HOTY - Bendigo Showgrounds
02-02-2010

VASA HOTY - Bendigo Showgrounds

We were a little worried about the change of venue for VASA to the Bendigo showgrounds. We tried to head off with an open mind – but it showed that the committee struggled with the facilities and ground. The arena was very dusty and lacked any grass cover, there was absolutely no shade supplied for spectators which caused hardly anyone watching events due to the incredibly high temperatures and the stables were incredibly unsafe. One of our stables lacked having its support pole concreted into the ground, therefore the whole front wall moved and it was very unsafe. The large mesh on the doors is also an accident waiting to happen. Lets hope VASA hear our concerns and make improvements to the grounds and facilities if VASA is to stay at Bendigo.

In saying all of that we had a very successful show. We took our two babies Kolbeach Honours (Harry) and Willowcroft Regal Lady (Anna) and couldn’t be more pleased with their results. Having not been to a show for nearly two months it was a huge ask for them to head off to HOTY and perform to the best of their ability. Anna proved she is going to be a wonderful show Galloway by working extremely well and making the Top 10 in both the Newcomer Galloway and Rising Star class. Harry also had pleasing results by making the Top 10 of the Newcomer Large Pony. Well done to both our babies and thank you to my wonderful strappers De-Bra and Dale. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Beckworth Command N Conquer to be a father!!
13-01-2010
We are very excited to announce that the first mare served by William, Fairlight Acres Katie has been scanned in foal!!!

Port Fairy Show
09-11-2009
At 4:00pm Friday we decided to take Robbie (L. Choir Boy) to Port Fairy show. Robbie has been turned out at our other property since Adelaide Royal 2009, due to too many newcomers to get going. We grabbed him out of the paddock, travelled him home, gave him a 10 mins work then washed, plaited and clipped him up. He was a total dream to do everything too. He then went to Port Fairy and won his open class and worked like the total pro he is. What a sensational pony.

Tiara (L. Upbeat) also went to Port Fairy and won a very competitive open class. We were thrilled with the win and her progress this season.

Warrnambool Ag Show 2009
03-11-2009

What a hot and busy couple of days at Warrnambool show! We took three horses across to Warrnambool and each one of them received pleasing results.

Anna (W. Regal Lady) was awarded Reserve Champion to Kolbeach Circus in Ring 1 (Winner of the small Galloway class at Melbourne Royal 2009) and then went onto to be declared Champion Galloway in Ring 2. What a great result for our newcomer and we were so pleased with how she coped with the very atmospheric Warrnambool showgrounds!

Tiara (L. Upbeat) was awarded Reserve Champion Open Small pony in some stiff competition. Not bad for a pony pulled out of the paddock a week ago!

Will (B. Command N Conquer) amazed us all again with his laid back attitude at the huge Warrnambool showgrounds! Nothing fazes this colt and we can only hope it breeds onto his young stock. Will won his 2yo Riding Pony class and then went onto to be awarded Reserve Champion Riding Pony, a great result as Warrnambool is a Riding Pony qualifier show.

EA State Titles
06-10-2009

From Horsham show we headed down to Werribee Park to compete at the EA State Titles. Nothing like throwing our babies in the deep end! Both babies handled the big event extremely well and made us all very proud.

Harry made the Final 10 of the Newcomer Large Pony and Anna made the Final 10 of the Newcomer Galloway.

I would like to also thank my wonderful strappers Debra and Dale for all the help with our hectic week!!

Horsham Ag Show
06-10-2009

Kolbeach Honours (Harry) and Willowcroft Regal Lady (Anna) made their saddle debuts. Both horses exceeded our expectations to say the least!!

Harry was awarded the following prizes: Champion Led Riding Pony, Reserve Champion Led Newcomer, Champion Open Led Horse, Champion Newcomer Ridden Pony, and Champion Open Ridden Pony.

Anna was awarded the following prizes: Champion Led Newcomer, Reserve Champion Open Led, Champion Ridden Newcomer Galloway, and Reserve Champion Open Ridden Galloway.

We had a wonderful show and thank the Horsham Ag Society for running such a wonderful program and for also being so incredibly accommodating to us horse competitors.

Adelaide Royal 2009
14-09-2009
It was such a relief to head across to the Adelaide Royal Show this year. We have had so much rain here at Condah that our preparations with the horses were totally hampered. Robbie and Harry were the two horses we took across to Adelaide and Robbie did not do a circle until we got to Adelaide! We were so wet all we could do was ride up the road. Robbie also hit Adelaide Royal without any prep shows as our only show in the area before Adelaide was cancelled due to the wet weather!

Robbie could not have made us any prouder. It was a tough ask to head off to Adelaide without being at a show for 6 months, but he did not disappoint. Robbie worked beautifully in his novice pony class to be awarded 3rd out of a wonderful line up of ponies. He then headed out in the open class and was awarded 6th. It was then time to change riders for the childs pony class. Tessa Hughes jumped on Robbie the morning of the class for a quick ride, then out they went. I couldnt be more proud with how they performed. Robbie and Tess did an amazing workout, which paid off with a 3rd placing. This placing was behind the winner of his novice class and the winner of his open class. What an effort!!!! Well done Robbie and Tess.

Langtree Choir Boy ridden by Tessa Hughes

Harry handled Adelaide better than we could have imagined. Having only ever been to one show, we knew it was a tough ask. Harry did not worry about prams, cattle, public, harness at all. He was amazing. He worked wonderfully in his led class and was just out of the placings. Well done Harry and a big thank you for my partner Mark for leading him so well.

Kolbeach Honours led by Mark Kamphuis

We are now preparing Harry and Anna for their debut show at Horsham, and then onto to the EV State Titles.

Balmoral Show 21 March 2009
23-03-2009
Robbie wins again!! We took 3 horses to Balmoral Show this year. Robbie (L. Choir Boy), Donkey (T. Pele) and our baby Harry (K. Honours). Robbie had been turned out since Barastoc, but got hauled in at last minute and went off to Balmoral. He did not disappoint and won again - being completely unbeaten in his open height class this show season. What an effort!!

We took our baby Harry to Balmoral for a look around. He was so well behaved and blew us all away with his laid back nature. We cannot wait to get him out under saddle now!

Kolbeach Honours (Harry)

BARASTOC HOTY
19-02-2009
We were lucky at Barastoc this year, wonderful mild weather!!

We had another great show with our show hunter/ASH hack Tallarenha Pele making the Hunter Final, and it was a huge class!! Under lights at night in the indoor arena is very scarey, but he handled it very well.

Langtree Upbeat did not disappoint and made the Newcomer Small Pony final. This pony is so mature for her age and never worried about being at the big occasion show. She has a big future ahead of her.

Willowcroft Mannequin worked beautifully for her Newcomer Large Pony class and only just missed out on the final. It was a huge class with many lovely ponies. This mare has now been retired and will be put in foal.

Langtree Choir Boy again did not disappoint bringing home ribbons again. He had absoutely no work due to us having young newcomers to deal with and still worked with his beautiful precision and glorious extensions.

Donkey (T. Pele) did very well in the ASH ring and was awarded a ribbon in every class again!!

All ponies are now turned out and we are bringing in our young ponies to break in for the coming season!

National Riding Pony Show
09-02-2009
We headed off the the National Riding Pony show held at WPNEC over the weekend. We took our riding pony newcomer Langtree Upbeat and couldnt believe how well she coped with the indoor arena etc. We are very pleased to announce that she is the 2009 NATIONAL NEWCOMER PONY 12.2HH AND UNDER!!!! What an amazing effort by our little baby!!!

We would also like to express our deepest condolences to all the people effected by the devastating bush fires. Our heart goes out to you and your families. If we can help in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Melbourne Summer Royal & VASA
27-01-2009
What a show we had! Our first event was with our newcomer small pony Langtree Upbeat. She worked very well and was awarded 2nd in her Newcomer Riding Pony Ridden 12.2hh and under. Fantastic results for a baby who hadnt been to a show since the end of november!!

Our wonderful stock horse Tallarenha Pele also came home with a ribbon from every class! He was awarded 6th in the Led Gelding ASH, 6th in the Ridden Hack ASH and 6th in the Open Show Hunter Hack 15-16hh. They were all huge classes so we are very excited with his achievements. I was also awarded Champion Novice ASHLA Riden on Donkey in the stock horse ring!!! What a great Summer Royal!

We also had a great VASA with Langtree Choir Boy making the FINAL 10 in the Open Large Pony class. He had some great competition and for him to make to TOP 10 just proves what an amazing pony he truly is. He worked with precision and made me very proud!

Kolbeach Honours Broken In
22-12-2008
We are very excited to announce that Kolbeach Hickstead (Harry) has been broken in. With Abby having already recently broken 3 ponies in, while also preparing, working and showing up to 6 horses each week, it was decided Harry would be sent away to be broken in. After much research we decided to send Harry to the very experienced and capable David Warde.

We could not be happier with the results. Not only has Harry come home looking like he could head off to a show tomorrow he is working beautifully under saddle. David has done a wonderful job with Harry and we thank David and his staff for doing such a professional job and for looking after him so well.  We cannot wait for him to start his saddle career next season.

Heywood Show
04-12-2008
A very busy day for Equiscene as we took 4 ponies! Robbie again went Champion Large Pony in Ring 1 and Langtree Upbeat was awarded Champion Small Pony as well. Both ponies worked extremely well.

Willowcroft Mannequin also did not disappoint and went Champion Large Pony in Ring 2. Not a bad effort for a our newest baby.

Beckworth Command N Conquer went for a look around and behaved like an old pro. Very pleased with this colt's temperament.

Casterton Show 16th Nov 2008
17-11-2008
What a successful day! Robbie went onto be the Champion Open Pony in a strongly contested championship. Robbie has been Champion Open pony at every show he has competed at this season! What an effort.

Langtree Upbeat also had a successful day winning the Reserve Champion Open Pony. Very pleased as she has not been shown under saddle for a month yet! Upbeat has been Champion Open Pony at the following previous shows: Mt Gambier, Penola, Millicent - not a bad effort for a newcomer!

Willowcroft Mannequin went for a led class and did not disappoint by bringing home the blue! She was very well behaved for a baby!

Naracoorte Show 2008
20-10-2008
We took Langtree Choir Boy and Tallarenha Pele to Naracoorte Show on the weekend. Choir Boy won both his classes and went on to be awarded Champion Open Pony and won a rug!! Thank you Naracoorte Show Society. Tallarenha Pele won his open Hunter class as well which was very pleasing.

New Property
06-10-2008
This past weekend was spent putting in new fences on our newly acquired additional 80 acres. We have spent a lot of time planning the setup of the new land and now the new fences are going in! Every care is being taken for them to be as safe as possible.

On our other property we have now finished installing the last of our six stables in our new barn. We now have a fully enclosed barn with hot/cold wash bay, feed room, tack room and 6 stables! We built the entire complex ourselves and my fiancee Mark designed and constructed all our stables! Lucky ponies!! Photos of the stables can be viewed in our photo gallery.

Adelaide Royal Results
19-09-2008
It was absolutely wonderful to be back at Adelaide Royal this year. We have a great show. Our Australian Stock Horse Tallarenha Pele got 3rd in his Led Class and our pony Langtree Choir Boy got 4th in his novice class 12.2-13hh. Not bad for two horses who have not been extensively shown!

My grandparents also had a wonderful successful show with their harness horses, bringing home a swag of ribbons!!
